My worst dream

05:48

Hello and happy Monday!
A bit of a different post from me today (hope you don't mind). It is something very personal to me as I have just been through this and I am still trying to get through it, but I thought I would make people more aware and give the advise which has worked for me if there is anyone going through the same issue. So the problem is hair loss..

As the picture above shows, I'm not talking about one or two hairs. Every time I washed my hair, it would be falling down the drain. Whenever I brushed my hair, I would pull out clumps of hair and I couldn't even run my hands through my hair without it continuing to fall.

A few months before this hair loss, as I mentioned in my previous post, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour however my doctor has reassured me the treatment of this would not cause any hair loss. As I realised this amount of hair loss was not normal under any circumstances and I got a blood test from my doctor and it was found I was iron deficient.

Even though it may not look so bad in the picture above, I lost around half my hair and I am still going through the painful growing process. I think one of the worst parts is people looking at my hair growth and being too polite to say anything, but staring is the worst!

If anyone is going through hair loss these are the products I have used as well as iron supplements to help my hair grow back thick and strong:

Firstly, this is the shampoo and conditioner I used. I love how Kerastase makes my hair feel and this shampoo is specialised for fine, thinning hair.
Next, I would use these little bottles of liquid after I got out of the shower. They were part of a 6 week treatment that nourish the hair follicles to stimulate growth. I have now finished with these, but will be starting my second treatment with them in October

Finally, I moved on to a spray version of the bottle above, I think it is a little less concentrated, but works on the same idea. My hair is growing back all over my head and I think these products have really helped to get my hair thick and healthy again. It is a very long process and I have ups and downs but I have to keep thinking positive and I cannot wait until my hair is back to normal again. Here is a progress picture of my hair today:

(I've cropped out the top of my head because I can't do a thing with the floating hairs growing back, better you don't see those!)

Has anyone else had hair loss? How did you deal with it? xo

  2. so pleased to read that your hair is growing back now - it must have been dreadful on top of all the other stress/illness to deal with - our hair is such a part of who we are - alopecia is much more common than people realise.
Alot of people really rate Keratase products but I've never tried any - I've got very fine hair so maybe I should give it a go.

  6. For some reason I don't really read these posts (as bad as it sounds), but I really felt what you've been and still going through even though I don't have a condition remotely close to yours. I wish you the best, and hope you never lose your strength; and as everyone else here is saying: yes, your hair looks amazing at the moment,
    Have a great one x

  7. I'm currently struggling with pretty severe hair loss as well and it was so great to read about your story and how you dealt with the problem! My hair loss most probably goes back to malnutrition, especially iron deficiency as well. I've recently started taking supplements because of that and already noticed quite an improvement. Thank you so much for your product recommendations, though! I'm definitely going to give the Kérastase range a try. I'm so happy for you that you managed to regain your beautiful hair - you look absolutely gorgeous!♥
